Frequently Asked Questions
Here you’ll find answers to frequently asked questions. Can’t find your question here? Then contact us directly—we’re here to help.
What information do you need to estimate the effort and costs involved in moving a machine?
To make an initial assessment, please provide us with the machine type, manufacturer, and model; its dimensions and weight; its current and future location; and photos of the machine and the site conditions. The desired scope of services and the planned timeframe are also important. Based on this information, we can plan the necessary steps and select the appropriate technology for the project.
How far in advance should I plan for the disassembly and transport of a machine?
That depends on the machine’s size, weight, current location, and destination. For larger systems, international shipments, or situations requiring heavy-haul equipment, planning should begin as early as possible so that transportation, cranes, customs, and other parties involved can be coordinated.
What happens if a machine is hard to access or is particularly large and heavy?
Even challenging site conditions can be factored into project planning. Depending on the situation, we coordinate the appropriate cranes, forklifts, heavy-duty equipment, and special transport, and plan the disassembly so that the machine can be safely prepared for loading and transport.
How can production downtime be kept to a minimum when relocating a machine?
Dismantling, transport, and reassembly are planned as a single, integrated process. By coordinating the individual work steps and the subsequent installation, alignment, functional testing, and commissioning, the time required before production can resume is kept as short as possible.
What do I need to keep in mind when shipping a machine overseas?
In addition to the actual transport, customs formalities, export documents, containerization, and, if applicable, BAFA processes may be required, depending on the destination country. SUNTER can coordinate these aspects—along with loading, securing the cargo, and international logistics—as part of the project.
